Chili fest recap
/This month Hillside was proud to partner with the Newburyport High School's Environmental Club (a.k.a. E-Club) to monitor composting at the Grog's 12th Annual Charity Chili Cook-Off & Craft Beer Fest. Each year over Columbus Day weekend, the Grog sponsors a chili cook-off for local restaurants and individuals to enter for their chance at the title of "Best Chili", while local breweries provide samplings of their products. This year Michael's Harborside took the crown! David Hall and the Tannery have been co-sponsors of the event since its beginning. All proceeds from the event go to benefit Our Neighbors’ Table, The Pettengill House and Community Services of Newburyport. This year the event raised $10,000 to be donated to the participating charities! We also were pleased with the Grog who provided the event with all compostable napkins, cups, and utensils. Overall, it was a great day for Newburyport, for the environment, and for chili!
